Synthetic Hair Covered with Real Hair, Which PAU Continues Its Studies, Does Not Look Like the Real One

Pamukkale University Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Chemistry, Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Ramazan Donat in the Department of Chemistry, Pamukkale University Faculty of Science and Technology, the synthetic hair coated with real hair, which continues to work under the leadership of Ramazan Donat, does not look like the real one in terms of heat resistance, shaping and paint holding capacity.
Prof. Dr. Lect. Prof. Dr. Ramazan Donat and his team; Food Engineer and Food Safety Specialist H. Pınar Koralay, Hair Design Specialist Anıl Gökçay, Electrical Technician Ramazan Akköse and PAU Chemical Engineering Student Elif Ünal continue to work on antibacterial, antiallergic synthetic hair covered with real hair. The synthetic hair obtained at the end of one year of work successfully passed tests such as hot water resistance, porosity, shapeability, heat resistance, dyeability with natural and synthetic dyes.

Pointing out that there are millions of people in the world who experience hair loss for various reasons, whose hair does not grow or who struggle with lifeless hair problem, Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Ramazan Donat underlined that wigs made of natural hair are quite expensive and that petroleum-derived wigs currently in use cannot be used in patients undergoing chemotherapy and people whose skin shows allergic reactions. Stating that within Pamukkale University, they have been working on coating the inert hair collected from hairdressers on synthetic fibre and silk as a result of hydrolysis with scientific methods for a year, Assoc. Prof. Donat stated that while carrying out this project, they made 8 different coatings on natural yarns, including hydrolysed real human hair and herbal liquids, and reached the thickness of human hair, and that they worked with very thin yarns that are normally difficult to see with the naked eye.
Proje ve yapılan çalışmaların sonucu hakkında bilgi veren Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Ramazan Donat sözlerine şu şekilde devam etti: “Ekibimizle yaptığımız çalışmalar neticesinde ilk prototiplerimizi çıkarmış bulunmaktayız. Bu insan vücuduna tam uyum sağlayan prototiplerimizin ilk denemeleri sonucunda doğal insan saçı formunun değişmemesi sebebiyle tıpkı doğal insan saçı gibi 240 derecede ısı ile şekil alabilen, boyanabilen, alerjik reaksiyon göstermeyen ve yakıcı olmayan doğala yakın bir ürün elde ettik. Bu özellikler petrol türevi peruklarda kesinlikle sağlanamamaktadır. Yaptığımız ürünlerde nano gümüş kaplama ile anti bakteriyel ve anti alerjik çalışmalarımıza hızla devam ediyoruz. UV ışınlarına dayanım, mukavemet, ışığı absorbe ve yansıtma özelliği, yanmaya karşı direnç, alerji testleri gibi çalışmalarımız halen sürdürüyoruz. Ülkemizdeki peruk olarak kullanılan saçların %90’nının dışarıdan ithal edildiğini de düşünecek olursak bu geri dönüşüm girişimimizle ülkemizin dışa bağımlılığını giderip ülke ekonomimize de büyük katkıda bulunacağımızı düşünmekteyiz”.

Food Engineer and Food Safety Expert H. Pınar Koralay from the project team stated the following on the subject: "The demand for hair is quite high both in our country and in the world. Especially in African countries, the curiosity to have long and straight hair due to the genetic structure of the hair has created a sector worth gold in that geography. It is known as "Black Gold" and can find buyers at about 900 dollars per kilo. If we consider that the money spent in the wig sector in the domestic market of our country is approximately 40 million dollars, I believe that this recycling will make a serious contribution to our country's economy. Unfortunately, in the wig sector, there are no technical specifications and standards for the separation of real hair and petroleum derivative wigs. For this reason, there is no organisation that inspects real hair and petroleum-derived artificial hair. When we start exporting in the future, we will need to obtain a new "HS code" code for our product only because we have developed a new product that does not exist in the world. In other words, our product will set the standards throughout the country. In addition, in the future, we will be able to make personalised hair design in any colour, length, thickness, mattness, shine and model depending on the wishes of the person. In this context, we also want to create a social responsibility project and provide free wigs to individuals in need who are undergoing chemotherapy. While giving life to the idle hair in another body, we aim to solve the person's peace with mirrors in the naturalness of their own hair."
