Pamukkale University (PAU), one of the 47 universities accepted to the TUBITAK 2244 - Industry Doctorate Programme launched by TÜBİTAK, will contribute to increasing the researcher human resources needed by the industry.
The Industry Doctorate Programme, which was implemented to increase qualified human resources in the industry in line with our country's 2023 targets and is considered as one of the important components of the 'National Technology Move', provides students with the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge they receive in the industry, while at the same time providing scholarships to students and employment afterwards.
As a result of the evaluations made within the scope of the applications, the results of TÜBİTAK 2244 - Industry Doctorate Programme for 2020 were announced. The first call for the programme was made in 2018, and 47 different universities, including Pamukkale University, were included in the programme. Within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2244 - Industry Doctorate Programme, doctoral students accepted to the programme are provided with a monthly scholarship of 4,500 TL and a 3-year employment guarantee after graduation.
Pamukkale University and Ozanteks Textile R&D Centre will train 3 PhD students
In the project, which is carried out through the Provincial Representative of Public University Industry Cooperation, Pamukkale TTO and Project Support Office within the Technopolis; PAU Faculty of Engineering Textile Engineering Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Osman Ozan Avinç will serve as Project Manager, Prof. Dr. Sema Palamutcu and Industrial Engineering Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Aşkıner Güngör will serve as thesis academic advisor.
Making statements on the subject, Ozanteks Assistant General Manager and R&D Centre Manager Mustafa Çörekçioğlu said the following: "As Ozanteks, we always endeavour to prioritise the value of the concept of environmental sustainability, which is an important principle of ours. In these years when sustainability is gaining importance day by day, it is very pleasing news that this project we wrote was accepted by TÜBİTAK. Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Bağ, who made statements on the subject, noted the following: "As Pamukkale University, we are very happy and proud to be included in TÜBİTAK 2244 - Industry Doctorate Programme, which is one of the most concrete examples of university-industry cooperation. As it is known, Denizli is an important weaving centre with a deep-rooted textile history as well as its natural beauties. With the industrialisation in production, weaving looms have been replaced by machines. At the point we have reached today, R&D and investment in R&D have gained great importance along with production. The integration of sectoral developments in science into production can be achieved through university-industry co-operation. We attach importance to this cooperation with Ozanteks company in order for Denizli, a brand city in textile, to find a place in the world market with high value-added products. As Pamukkale University, we aim to bring our scientific studies directly to the private sector, and at the same time, we aim to be one of the leading countries in the industry with our young population and highly qualified labour force with high potential. In a period when R&D and qualified labour force have become extremely important, I strongly believe that this programme will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of our country in production and at the same time contribute to the development of our economy by producing high value-added products in our country.
